This cable is treated with a diluted bookbinders PVA glue with a neutral PH. This adds a matt appearance and helps reduce fuzz and unraveling. Even with PVA treatment, the cable may show fuzz when worked with. This can be remedied by brushing down the cable after rigging with diluted PVA.
This cable is made by twisting three ropes together. Cable-laid rope is generally used for anchors, large stays, and sometimes for breach rope on large cannons.
